A society that ceases to honor its elders begins to lose its memory. And without memory, each generation mistakes old lessons for new discoveries — and repeats old failures as though they were original.
We have crossed a threshold.
The first nine commandments in this series belonged to the Creator category — nine entries establishing who Yahauah is, what He deserves, and how we are to relate to Him. That category ended with a call to walk in His ways and be established by His qum — to become people of enduring character through a consistent, faithful pattern of life.
Now we enter the Turah category. And it begins, perhaps unexpectedly, not with a regulation about worship or ritual — but with a commandment about people.
Specifically, old people.
“You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an elder, and revere your alah: I am Yahauah.” — Leviticus 19:32
